INTRODUCTION

In today’s world, it’s not easy to be patient. We don’t like to wait either. We’ve created a world of quick mastery in which we can learn languages in few days press the buttons for quick response and grasp intricate practices like hypnosis in a weekend workshop. Likewise, the internet has fed us with the belief that we can become experts in a chosen field overnight.However, in spite of the quick microwave systems and super technology high ways, plants still teaches us that we must learn and that we have no choice but to wait for them to grow in their own sweet time—no matter what we do.

Realistically, based on the current economic down turn transpiring round the world, none wants to stick to the right way of doing and getting it. None wants to know the implications and consequences of what they are about doing before plunging into it. None wants to find out the root source of those who claimed to have discovered and become the possessors of the Midas touch. Almost everyone is on a rat race! Waiting patiently is no longer a mantra to cite and hold on to. In fact, you are been seen as naïve, inane and stupid if you dare caution those you discovered going the wrong way.

However, it’s obvious to note that men and women of this present time wants to make it big, wants to ride on the latest car, wants to do this and that in order to be the best among equal.

As a result, manifesting the spirit of patience within them becomes very difficult. But the truth is, except you see the nature of the earth, its foolishness and emptiness you will not let it go. And except God reveals to you what he offers for you in Christ, you will not hasten to live patiently in this life.

Similarly, nothing on earth has ever been attained without the ability to wait/endure a while, or even for a longer period of time without grudge or complaint. Dreams, purpose, visions, planning, goals, experiments, research and logical thinking were all achieved with it. Nations were not built on a day, but on a gradual process which often involves time and patience. Building, education, technology, agriculture, childbirth, leadership name it., all involves huge amount of patience coupled with the ability to bear up pressures in order for it to be accomplished in the fullness of time. Through its power the world was created, through its spirit the Israelites arrived at their long awaited journey to the promise land.

Abraham had long patient until he received his awaited promise. Through the spirit and power of patience Job waited to the end and reclaimed all he dispossessed in double folds. Patience provides endurance in tribulation, gives you time to learn, network and gain wisdom and as well makes suffering and disappointment bearable.

Nehemiah through patience and fighting spirit rebuilt the broken walls of Jerusalem. Nonetheless, Patience, hope and persistence is an essential essence that can make us become successful in life. Once we have prepared ourselves with it, we’ll see its end no matter what the obstacles or stumbling blocks might seem to be.

Let’s have patient and we soon shall see the proper figures to take. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scripture might have hope (Romans 15:1). Patience is also the key to power over adversity and turmoil.

The word patience was derived from a Latin word which says “Pati to suffer”, it depicts the ability to tolerate delay, trouble, or even upset. In Greek it is translated as makrothumia. It was associated with the early Christians, who endured persecution and intense misfortune without complaint or loss of faith. Patience is a valuable virtue to those on spiritual paths because it allows you to continue your spiritual efforts even though you may give up your practice, day dreams and visions even before the desired outcome reflect.

In other words, patience is the ability to endure and bear up the pressures of life without gripe or complaint, as I said in the beginning. It’s a prerequisite for living a successful and impactful life. This is so because; living a life without patience can make us take hasty actions and decisions that will end us up in demoralized conditions of life. Just like in the case of Saul and Ahimaaz who ran faster than his shadows, and was asked to stay aside by the King.

Humorist Arnold Glasow said, “The key to everything is patience.” You get the chicken by hatching the egg not smashing it. Those who have gone ahead of us knew how crucial it was to their life. The truth is many of us aren’t patient any longer to receive and achieve that which God has reserved for us, as a result of what the eyes are seeing/mundane things of this present life.

We now prefer and chase the easy way out; rather than waiting to the appointed time for our dream through faith. As a result, many are misled and at the same time, lose their precious life unwittingly. No one plants now and reaps now. It takes some time for it to mature and yield the needed fruit. However, I have come to realize that patience is “One golden key” that each and every one of ought not to dispel and repudiate, but, it’s on the neglect as the day goes by. Many now forget the fact that it is an indispensible tool to the race and journey of life.

Nonetheless, many have dived into a particular endeavour as a result of its glittering, but have come to realize that all that glitters are not gold. Many are also confused and frustrated today, as a result of the negligence of the spirit and power of patience to get them to their desired height in life. I’m convinced that this was the reason behind the instruction Paul the Apostle gave us. It goes like this: We have need of patience; and that after we have done his will; we might receive his promise (Hebrews 10:36).

Interestingly, it is the patience in you that will eventually enable you to receive the promise God has reserved for you ahead of time, after you might have done his will here on earth.

Therefore, every outcome in our pursuit here on earth, can only be actualized when we have faith, and patience towards our dreams, goals and visions of life. And for the fact that you have read up to this point, God will give you the patience and the needed courage it takes to wait for that dreams and visions of yours in the fullness of time.
